United Employment Group is looking for a Stamping Operations Manager in Philadelphia, PA.

Description:

The Stamping Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes as well as supervising the tool room associates in the duties of repair and manufacture of stamping dies and production of other components or products. This involves overseeing and training employees operating CNC equipment and EDM, grinders and conventional machine shop equipment.

Credentials and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing personnel involved in tool fabrication or production machining.
  • Two-year engineering, technical or management degree or equivalent experience; a Journeyman Tool & Die certification is preferred or 4 year Engineering degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques and related equipment
  • Experience in managing a tool room, job allocations, machine scheduling, managing people, understanding complex design.
  • Experience in a fast paced job shop is preferable.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems.
  • Knowledge of TQM, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles preferable
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the VP of Operations and follow procedures and approved processes
  • Coordinate budget requirements and job timelines when dealing with suppliers and customers
  • Improve performance, adherence to (and creation of) standards, understand manufacturing needs and provide complete support for tooling start-ups and qualification
  • Manage Tool Room Technicians, including mentoring junior members, establishing growth plans, setting goals for all members, and setting minimum achievement requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill orders, meet inventory requirements and deliver manufactured products in a timely manner
  • Have a sense of ownership for deliverables
  • Oversight of the effective/efficient running of the tool room; including driving the ongoing development and growth of the department.
  • Review of all new tooling design with each member of the Tool Engineering group, ensuring accomplishment of goals for each specific project.
  • Understand limitations and tolerance of equipment
  • Participate with tooling technicians to ensure continual improvement program for tooling, modification projects as required, and support process upgrades on equipment to improve performance.
  • Performs other functions as necessary. Must be able to meet deadlines and maintain a balance between multiple projects; fast-paced environment; and stressful circumstances.
