Seeking a project engineer with precast/prestress & concrete testing experience!

Description:

Seeking a qualified professional with a background in sound engineering principles, project management, process control and concrete quality assurance experience preferably with time spent in the precast/prestressed concrete industry. The ideal candidate will have proven experience and understanding of mechanical and concrete test methods, quality assurance management, process engineering, project management and documentation methods and best practices. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated and comfortable working with limited supervision while delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will also be involved in evaluating existing processes and manufacturing systems and provide input on product development to help reduce cost and improve current systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage multiple projects, including new product development, testing protocols, design changes, quality assurance system manual process improvements.
  • Read technical drawings and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the products
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement inspections, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Document and manage inspection results by completing reports and inputting data into quality control database
  • Ensure all inspection process follow all quality control procedures
  • Develop and maintain audit systems and procedures
  • Coordinate trials and testing of new product designs; write plans, coordinate machine availability as needed, and communicate plans and results
  • Manage documentation and process information for manufacturing vendors, and receiving plants to accept/reject materials related to new product features
  • Communicate with R&D, quality, and marketing teams during product change initiatives
  • Ongoing communications with vendors to ensure new designs are not hindering manufacturing processes
  • Apply process controls and training to accelerate development of new products and/or features of current products
  • Write, manage, and report on detailed project plans related to manufacturing of new products
  • Performs all aspects of the pre-manufacture inspection process during and after production to meet quality requirements
  • Seek opportunities to improve products and operating processes
  • Coordinate, lead and participate in the testing programs
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices
  • Resolve application issues, field issues, and general technical issues

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Should be CAD-proficient to assist in completion of process drawings
  • Experience understanding the roles of engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, fabrication, shipping, and credit to facilitate support from, and manage the needs of assigned projects
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities, job sites, manufacturing facilities, and fabrication facilities as necessary
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in construction, design, or engineering related program is preferred
  • Three (3) years experience in the precast/prestress concrete industry is preferred
  • Capable of reading structural, mechanical and product drawings, and project and product specifications
  • Excellent skills in the following areas: documentation, organization, communication, and problem-solving
  • Manage multiple projects and initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment, while being flexible to changing circumstances
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Comfort interacting and collaborating with all levels of office, vendor, customer, and plant employees
