United Employment Group is seeking a Plant Manager in Eastern PA.
Description:
Manage and lead all aspects of assigned manufacturing operations. The role includes managing all staff, equipment/building/property maintenance, function, safety initiatives, production scheduling, inventory management, production goals, quality and cost control.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement efficient and effective daily production and shipping schedules. Communicate production to staff in a timely and effective manner
- Lead production staff to ensure that production work is accurate, timely and consistent with work instructions and procedures
- Optimize efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance in order to meet objectives
- Ensure that company quality objectives are being met on a consistent basis. Train production workers on quality assurance procedures and policy as needed
- Develop, implement, and verify standard operating procedures (SOP). Provide SOP training
- Evaluate and assign production personnel to match abilities, skills and knowledge to the optimal plant assignment
- Maintain organization, discipline and structure through the enforcement of Company policies and House Rules. Monitor and take corrective action on issues relating to work performance
- Engage in daily production work and plant activities as needed. Possess ability to operate and maintain all plant production equipment
- Ability to be on-call during all production shifts for troubleshooting assistance and be available to travel to plant as needed
- Ensure physical inventories/cycle counts are conducted as required to ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory. Interface with office staff on production/work order completions. Ensure proper quantities and counts
- Supervise the assembly, operation, and maintenance of molds, production, and delivery equipment to ensure production and deliveries are carried out as scheduled
- Ensure the operation and maintenance of curing equipment such as heaters, boilers, steam generators, and water softeners is properly carried out
- Supervise preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment and rolling stock and make sure needed parts are ordered to repair said equipment
- Implement continuous improvement. Possess competent understanding of efficiency and use of labor as it relates to output
- Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers. Promote and maintain the professional image and reputation of the company and ensure timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience and ability to manage a staff of supervisors, leads, machine operators, equipment operators, drivers, yard personnel, plant production workers, and administrative staff. Ability to give direction, assess talent, and make tough decisions
- Experience with building and property maintenance essential. Basic mechanical ability necessary
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English
- Basic mathematical skills are necessary to fill out production sheets, create and interpret schedules, and determine plant procedures
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment and process required
- Ability to interpret production metrics and understand goals
- Basic comprehension of cost control within a manufacturing plant
- Experience with manufacturing/production computerized batching/PLC systems
- Must have strong communication ability and solid interpersonal/networking skills. Evidence of leadership and professionalism
- Working knowledge of PC Window’s environment including Microsoft Office, computer literate with the ability to analyze and manage data
- Forklift training as required by OSHA
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. College degree and at least 3 years management experience preferred
- At least 8 years of manufacturing and/or construction materials industry preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Meeting customer delivery requirements and daily production demands may result in stressful situations
- Work in an office, shop floor, and yard subject to dust, noise concentrations, and temperature changes
- Wear proper safety equipment such as hard hat, ear protection, safety boots, safety glasses at all times while inside the plant. Occasionally wear a respirator, safety apron, gloves, etc. as a particular job may require.
- Work up to 8-10 hour shifts, as needed, including some early morning start times and/or late night ending times
- Lift and/or carry up to 100 lb. occasionally
- Grip, grasp, or twisting your hands and wrists regularly throughout a shift
- Bending and stooping is regularly required throughout the day
