Job Description
- Responsible for facilitating quality improvement and resolving issues that involve suppliers, manufacturing plants, and/or customers.
- Function as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support.
- Define and implement strategies to support and track continuous improvement and development of suppliers on the companies Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Assess current quality concerns at the supplier location, identify root cause of problems and delays, and expedite corrective action.
- Perform quality system and process audits to evaluate potential or existing supplier capabilities and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare reports and communicate significant issues or developments identified during supplier quality visits and provide recommended process improvements to management.
- Develop and initiate supplier standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Assist suppliers in developing statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate / implement effective and timely resolutions.
- Work with program teams to define project deliverables, project planning, etc.
- Job requires approximately 60 to 75 percent travel.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four year technical degree preferred or CQE
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of quality tools/techniques (APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, PPAP, Run at Rate, ISO-9001/TS16949, 5-Phase, 8D, Kaizen, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc)
- High proficiency reading prints, interpretation and part measurement
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and gage design and function.
- Working knowledge of SPC.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes.
- Ability to read and interpret CMM programs and technical drawings and or sketches
