Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with the Technical Team to introduce new mold designs, tooling, and processes that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Develop scientifically based processes to monitor the performance of injection molding machines to ensure consistency of quality and efficiency via established process specifications
- Provide engineering feedback on new designs to insure process capability and review/test new materials. Participate in mold design reviews prior to mold build.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing for capability issues, technical improvements, and daily processing activities.
- May be involved with auxiliary equipment to support molding operations such as robots, pickers, closing machines, etc.
- Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to help achieve operational goals.
- Provide oversight and guidance to Molding Technicians and production mechanics.
- Train employees, provide feedback on performance, and assign and direct work as needed.
- Drive molding process improvements to include cycle time efficiencies, cavitation, scrap reduction, and establishment of optimal processing parameters.
- Provide technical support for new tooling qualifications and process capability studies.
- Support process improvement, reduction of downtime, cost reduction, TPM Improvements, and corrective action teams.
- Assist in the set-up, repair, and troubleshooting of Injection Molding equipment.
- Support Company Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals.
- Ensures all safety procedures are followed and actively works to improve our safety program.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality departments to meet production requirements.
- Develop and maintain all departmental procedures & work instructions.
- Help promote a positive work environment with engaged employees.
- Works to help achieve company goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of plastic injection molding process, machines, and resins.
- Experience with Solidworks, Inventor, or similar CAD drawing software.
