Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, service delivery, and team performance within our industrial refrigeration division. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in ammonia, CO₂, and Freon-based systems with strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills. This role ensures safe, efficient, and profitable operations while maintaining compliance with industry standards and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Manage daily operations of the refrigeration department, ensuring efficient scheduling, workflow, and service delivery.
- Implement and monitor KPIs to measure productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
- Oversee inventory management, procurement, and allocation of resources.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistent service quality.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
- Recruit, onboard, and train new employees to maintain a skilled workforce.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide coaching for career development.
- Foster a positive, safety-driven workplace culture.
Customer & Client Relations
- Serve as the primary liaison for key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- Address escalated service concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with sales by identifying new service opportunities and preparing quotes for new and existing customers.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, RETA, and local regulations.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices across all job sites.
- Stay current with evolving refrigerant regulations and industry standards.
Strategic & Financial Management
- Assist in developing departmental budgets and monitor cost control.
- Analyze operational performance and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency.
- Support company leadership in long-term strategic planning and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration, with at least 3–5 years in an operations or management role.
- Strong knowledge of ammonia, CO₂, and Freon-based refrigeration systems.
- RETA certification strongly preferred; EPA Universal Certification required.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and manage complex operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong business acumen and financial management experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office and operations/service management software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to visit job sites, including cold storage and manufacturing facilities.
- May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and work in confined spaces.
