Job Description
The Operations Manager will lead and manage operational execution for all production, scheduling, and manufacturing support for 200 employees across a three-shift manufacturing operation. The role involves developing strategies to achieve key performance metrics, including Safety, Sales, Productivity, Scrap, Cost Management, and Net Income.
This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent leadership, effective communication, and team-building capabilities. This candidate must be customer-focused, capable of developing innovative solutions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior managers to develop company performance goals and long-term operational plans.
- Flow down company objectives into actionable programs and initiatives.
- Maximize efficiency and productivity through interdepartmental collaboration.
- Work with senior management on financial and budgetary planning.
- Analyze current operational processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support and collaborate with the Engineering team on new product development projects.
- Act as a role model and sponsor of safety, ensuring employees adhere to safety policies.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, including 6S and continuous improvement programs.
- Manage department budgets and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure employees receive proper training and work is performed according to procedures.
- Develop and mentor supervisory staff to enhance leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained to maximize uptime and throughput.
- Identify capital investment needs and coordinate capital authorization requests.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and enforce company policies.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to drive team performance.
- Strong background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles, including GD&T and quality control.
- Understanding of strategic planning, financial management, and resource allocation.
- Ability to streamline operational processes and adapt to changing business needs.
- Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
