The Field Service Technician is responsible for supporting customers through equipment installation, commissioning, and ongoing service. This role manages on-site installations, provides technical support, and resolves mechanical and electrical issues for industrial equipment at customer locations. They serve as a liaison between the company and its customers, ensuring safe, efficient installations and a high level of customer satisfaction. This position requires extensive travel and hands-on experience working with heavy industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support on-site installation, commissioning, and servicing of company equipment at customer locations
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues in the field or remotely
- Perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to restore equipment functionality
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and industry safety standards at all times
- Coordinate and direct skilled and unskilled labor during equipment installation, service, and repair activities
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain technical issues and solutions in a clear, practical manner
- Generate detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation of work performed
- Manage service and installation projects across multiple regions or states
- Support in-house service operations by responding to service calls as needed
- Contribute to overall team success by supporting additional business needs as directed
Qualifications / Requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight travel and occasional weekends
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience servicing large industrial machinery, ideally concrete or cement equipment
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Prior experience with concrete, cement, aggregate, or similar heavy equipment preferred
- Ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade degree preferred
