Our client, a commercial concrete subcontractor, is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support and lead layout operations on large-scale concrete projects. This is a hands-on field role with travel to active job sites. The ideal candidate understands concrete means and methods and can work directly with field crews to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and production.
Responsibilities
- Perform and lead layout for concrete work including footings, foundations, walls, columns, and slabs
- Layout anchor bolts, embeds, sleeves, and edge conditions
- Read and interpret structural, civil, and architectural drawings
- Establish and verify control lines, elevations, and benchmarks
- Coordinate layout activities with superintendents, foremen, and field crews
- Identify conflicts early and communicate solutions clearly
- Maintain accuracy in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments
Requirements
- 7+ years of concrete construction layout experience
- Strong understanding of concrete forming systems, sequencing, and tolerances
- Proficient with total stations, lasers, levels, and layout tools
- Ability to work independently and lead layout operations in the field
- Willingness to travel and work extended schedules as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on large commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred
- Strong communication skills with diverse field crews
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior field personnel
