REPORTS TO: Manager of Engineering and Sales – North America
JOB PURPOSE: The Applications Engineer is responsible for understanding the design, function, and manufacturing of Bruss products. These include, but are not limited to dynamic seals, elastomeric gaskets, molded plastic covers and oil pans, bonded clutch pistons, and magnetic encoder rings. The Application Engineer is responsible for understanding the function of automotive internal combustion engines, electronic drives, transmissions, and axles. The Applications Engineer 1 is responsible for the design, validation, and analysis of Bruss products during the development phase and in production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creation of and execution of the DV Test Plan and Reports.
- Provide design direction to the CAD team based on the application and customer input.
- DFMEA creation.
- To perform root cause analysis and generate reports on customer returned parts.
- Be available to travel to local customers when needed to assist in design collaboration, part evaluation, assembly trials, part pick-up and delivery, etc.
- Assist in the creation of technical presentations.
- Act as back-up to Engineering Manager providing instruction to all Bruss North American Personnel with regards to product functions and capability.
- Effectively perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies and Education
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with physics and chemistry requirements.
- Ability to read drawings and apply the principles of GD&T
- The ability to interpret and explain FEA results
- Project Management Experience
- Ability to work in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and database software
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics.
