Job Description
The Director of Maintenance leads multi site maintenance operations and strategy across all four Nicolock manufacturing facilities, serving as the senior technical resource for electrical automation, PLC troubleshooting, and hydraulic systems across production lines. This role also owns capital improvement planning and the CMMS/reliability program, and ensures maintenance practices meet safety and compliance standards across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Multi-Site Maintenance Leadership
- Direct maintenance operations and strategy across all four Nicolock manufacturing facilities.
- Build, standardize, and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance programs across sites with different equipment platforms and different levels of maintenance maturity.
- Hire, develop, and manage site-level maintenance staff, including electricians, mechanics, and PLC technicians.
- Travel regularly between plants to support plant leadership and maintenance teams on the ground.
Electrical Automation and PLC Troubleshooting
- Serve as the senior technical resource for electrical automation issues across the Masa, Tiger, Quadra, Redi Rock, and TP8 production equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems to minimize unplanned downtime on paver, block, and wet cast production lines.
- Partner with OEM service teams and controls integrators where in-house resolution is not sufficient.
Hydraulic Systems Maintenance
- This is a must-have requirement for the role. Big board paver machinery, batching and mixing systems, and tumbling equipment are hydraulically driven, and hydraulic system failures are a leading cause of production downtime in this industry.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic systems across all production lines.
Capital Improvements
- Lead capital improvement planning and execution, including equipment upgrades, line additions, and facility infrastructure projects.
- Develop capital budgets and business cases for maintenance and reliability investments.
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships for capital project execution.
CMMS and Reliability Programs
- Own and administer the CMMS platform for work order management, PM scheduling, spare parts tracking, and maintenance KPIs.
- Use CMMS data to drive continuous improvement in equipment uptime and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Standardize spare parts inventory and stocking strategy across all four sites.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure maintenance practices meet OSHA and applicable state safety requirements across all facilities.
- Support plant management on equipment-related safety audits and incident investigations.
