Job Description
An established structural engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a growing team in the Nashville, TN office. This role is primarily responsible for leading a team to perform the design and analysis of structural elements and systems for a variety of project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial, historical, adaptive reuse, and renovations. The Senior Engineer serves as the technical specialist and mentors and trains junior and mid-level team members.Responsibilities
- Interacts with clients attending client, architect, and contractor meetings, reviewing structural documentation, and supervising/mentoring junior staff
- Oversight of design calculations, preparation of construction documents, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, site reviews, and RFI responses
- Coordinates information across all disciplines to ensure deliverables are compliant with quality expectations
- Performs QA/QC of work performed by others
- Mentors and provides oversight to the engineering team, including learning, professional development, and career growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred
- Active Professional Engineer license
- 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, specifically in building design
- People management experience preferred
- Experience with industry-standard structural design and analysis software
- Project management experience required
- Structural design experience utilizing different construction materials and systems, including steel, concrete, and masonry design in low- to mid-rise structures
- Working knowledge of Revit preferred
- Client management experience preferred
