Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor schedules and executes maintenance at an aluminum manufacturing facility to achieve company goals and meet customer needs based on available material, equipment, and manpower. This role is responsible for the safety of employees under supervision and plans maintenance work by priority.
Responsibilities
- Hire and schedule outside contractors
- Schedule jobs and projects for maintenance techs
- Write, modify, and schedule preventive maintenance
- Monitor maintenance software activities and work orders
- Plan projects
- Order replacement machinery and parts
- Identify worn machinery and advise replacement
- Ensure all repairs and work orders are completed in a timely manner
- Maintain parts inventory levels to control downtime
- Conduct department meetings
- Ensure timekeeping and absentee data is properly recorded for assigned crews
- Promote and implement continuous improvement
- Comply with and enforce all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Report unsafe activities to the supervisor or Safety Department and assess immediate corrective actions
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise 5 to 10 employees
- Train, plan, assign, and direct work
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints, and resolve problems
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED, or at least one year of related experience in a maintenance department, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to present information one on one and in small groups to management, employees, suppliers, and customers
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Computer Skills
- Ability to perform routine computer operations in plant software programs
