A well-established, privately owned concrete products manufacturer in Ohio is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at their block production facility. Core responsibilities
- Direct all day-to-day plant operations including production planning, scheduling, staffing, and output performance
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of Besser block-making equipment and associated systems
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and process issues on production equipment with a hands-on approach
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of production operators and maintenance technicians
- Maintain rigorous safety standards and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Manage raw material procurement, inventory levels, and vendor relationships to support uninterrupted production
- Monitor and report on key production metrics — output rates, downtime, quality yields, and cost per unit
- Ensure finished product consistently meets specification requirements for strength, dimension, and appearance
- Collaborate with ownership and senior leadership on capital improvements, capacity planning, and operational strategy
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of direct, hands-on experience with Besser block-making equipment — operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Demonstrated experience managing a concrete block or concrete products manufacturing facility
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated production systems
- Proven ability to lead and develop a production workforce in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Solid working knowledge of concrete mix design, aggregate specifications, and block quality standards
- Ability to read and apply technical manuals, equipment schematics, and maintenance documentation
- Track record of meeting or exceeding safety, quality, and production targets
- Strong organizational and communication skills — comfortable working directly with ownership in a privately held environment
