Seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee daily operations at our concrete block manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on knowledge of Columbia block-making equipment, a strong technical and maintenance background, and proven leadership in a production environment. This is a mid-career role suited for someone ready to take full ownership of plant performance, safety, and output quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of daily plant operations including production scheduling, staffing, and output targets
- Oversee maintenance programs for Columbia block machines and supporting equipment; ensure minimal downtime
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues on Columbia equipment — hands-on capability is essential
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of operators and maintenance personnel
- Enforce and continuously improve safety standards, housekeeping, and OSHA compliance
- Monitor product quality; implement corrective actions to meet mix design and specification requirements
- Manage raw material inventory, vendor relationships, and cost controls
- Report key performance metrics (OEE, waste, downtime, production rates) to senior management
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and maintenance
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience operating or maintaining Columbia block-making machines
- Proven background in concrete products manufacturing — block, paver, or related building materials
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems
- Experience managing a production team in a manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of mix design, aggregate selection, and block quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures
- Track record of maintaining or improving safety and production KPIs
Preferred qualifications
- Bilingual — English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Experience managing multi-shift operations
- Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering-related field, or equivalent experience
