Position Summary
We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated Industrial Refrigeration Service Manager to lead our service operations. This role oversees a team of technicians, manages customer relationships, ensures safety and compliance, and drives operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial refrigeration (ammonia, CO₂, and Freon systems), strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in service management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor service technicians and support staff.
- Schedule and assign work orders, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
Service Operations
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules and emergency service protocols.
- Review and approve service reports, work orders, and job costing.
- Maintain proper inventory and procurement of parts, tools, and safety equipment.
Customer Relations
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding service issues.
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships by delivering high-quality service.
- Address escalated concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all service work complies with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, RETA, and local regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and enforce company safety policies.
- Stay current on industry codes, standards, and refrigerant regulations.
Business & Financial Management
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the service department.
- Monitor KPIs, service revenues, and profitability.
- Support sales efforts by identifying new service opportunities and preparing quotes for new and existing customers.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of industrial refrigeration experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong technical expertise in ammonia and Freon-based refrigeration systems.
- RETA certification strongly preferred; EPA Universal Certification required.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to visit job sites, including cold storage facilities and mechanical rooms.
- May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces.
