We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to support our plastics manufacturing operations. The Toolmaker will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in production. This role requires precision machining skills, a strong understanding of tooling for plastics processes such as injection molding, and the ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, repair, and maintain injection molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other precision tooling.
- Operate manual and CNC machines including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and engineering drawings.
- Ensure tooling meets specifications and tolerances through precision measurement and inspection.
- Perform preventive maintenance and modifications on molds and tooling as required.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new tooling designs and changes.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability and performance.
- Maintain tooling records, documentation, and spare parts inventory.
- Follow all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or technical program strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of toolmaking or moldmaking experience in plastics manufacturing (injection molding, extrusion, or related).
- Proficiency with manual machining and CNC equipment.
- Strong understanding of tooling materials, heat treatment, and mold construction.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
