Tooling Designer / Engineer

United Employment Group is seeking a Tooling Engineer in Michigan.


  • Design tooling and CAD data to suit company and customer standards in order to produce acceptable parts within the cost window allowed
  • Order die related material, components, patterns, casting, etc. and follow up for accuracy and delivery
  • Create and modify 3D surfaces and run the necessary tool path
  • Estimate cost of dies
  • Extract information from detailed drawing and prepare program base for laser cut or wire EDM
  • Extract information from design drawing and provide dimensions for details shown
  • Prepare bill for materials and die information booklet for customer
  • Maintain engineering supplies
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers as required
  • Record daily job numbers and hours
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, five to ten years’ experience in the automotive industry, and one year of die estimating experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have excellent communication, problem-solving, organization, time management, and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Must have a good knowledge of the English language
  • Tool and Die Apprenticeship Certification/Journeyman's Card
  • GD&T Training
  • Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CAD, and KeyCreator
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949


Work Environment:

50% Office – 50% Plant Floor
