Site Foreman Job Description (Reports to Superintendent)

1. Responsibilities
The Site Foreman provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to:
1. Supervising crew members
2. Ensuring the safety of crew members
3. Productivity of crew members
4. Following OHSA and safety guidelines
5. As a key participant in the relationship with the contractors, and our client, the site foreman’s must maintain a  professional appearance.

a. Leadership and Supervision
The site foreman coordinates the crew, and must understand and consistently apply the superintendent’s policies. The site foreman is required to be involved and supportive of any day to day decisions.
This includes: 
1. Communicating the job to and with the crew
2.  Assigning crew tasks
3.  Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity
4.  Applying the principles of workplace respect on site
5.  Ensuring crew compliance with project policies and procedures
6.  Ensuring crew compliance with company policies and procedures

b. Planning and Scheduling
The site foreman is accountable for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that crews under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals.
This includes:
1. Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for the crew
2. Working with the crew to overcome work challenges
3. Periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production

c. Employee Relations
The site foreman must champion an inclusive employee relations culture, is accountable for the adherence to policies and procedures by the crew to ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment.

This includes:
1. Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues/problems among/between crew members
2. Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all crew members by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all crew members

d. Quality Control
The site foreman is accountable for ensuring that the completed work and jobs conditions meets quality standards.
This includes:
1. On-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure that the job is ready, and addressing any concerns
2. Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications and follows the plans
3. Inspecting and measuring completed work
4. Keeping our jobsite clean of debris (water bottle, cans, lunch wrappers, etc)

e. Administration
The site foreman is accountable for the preparation of reports as required by the employer.
This includes:
1. Turning in all job site paperwork (i.e concrete ticket, delivery tickets)
2.  Report daily work progress to superintendent 
3. Daily time keeping & reporting
4. Worker violation reports (write ups)
5. Recommending personnel actions such as releasing, promotions and discipline

2. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Safety

Knows and Understands:
1. Employment standards and company policies
2. How to read plans
3. How to calculate concrete/stone quantities
4. Understand and perform basic job layout
5. Understand basic rebar layout and tying
6. Can direct and understand trenching crews and excavation details
7. Understand flat concrete and curb forming and pouring

Has the ability to:
1. Lead the crew
2. Effectively communicate orally and in writing, with good comprehension
3. Coach and teach crew members
4. Apply good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
5. Manage differences and diversity at the work site
6. Organize and delegate work
7. Handle the administrative duties of position, including completion of required documents

Shows that he/she:
1. Is ready to take on new challenges and is willing to learn
2. Has good work ethic

5. Is willing to motivate and mentor crew members

The site foreman must provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under his/her direction, and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role.
This includes:
1. Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the OHSA, and company safety policies and procedures
2. Facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings
3. Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
4. Ensuring that vehicle, tools and equipment are maintained and serviced 

3. Qualifications
1. Has 3 to 5 years experience as a qualified and competent foreman
2. Has a valid and clean Ohio driver’s license
3. If company is providing a truck check we require proof of insurance
