An aluminum extrusion facility is looking for a quality engineer.

Description:

Responsibilities:

 Identify and Correct Internal Issues:  Daily Gemba walks to scour the site for visible issues in the product production process. Coordinate immediate resolution.

 Daily Shop Floor Problem Solving:  Work almost exclusively on the shop floor daily alongside operators infusing quality thinking and local problem solving. Improve the quality culture.

 Lead Improvement Teams:  Lead formal Optimization Team / kaizen initiatives related to product quality alongside Genesis and OpEx. Listen to operator feedback on issues that need resolved. Work with site resources from various departments in order to finish projects.

o Train / Coach Shop Floor Personnel:  Support learning organization initiative through daily teaching / coaching on the shop floor.  Impart technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.

o Become Technical Process Expert:  Become a subject matter expert in area of coverage (extrusion, paint, fab, etc.).

 Support Customer Claim Resolution:  Support internal investigation of customer claims and complaints. Ensure robust root cause and corrective action for all customer CARs.

 Manage / Mitigate Process Variation:  Develop SPC tools and work to manage the output response to special cause variation.  Mitigate deviations.

 Conduct Shop Floor Trials:  Coordinate internal product / process trials and serve as liaison for new product development initiatives in the factory.

 Analyzes Data Mass Scale:  Utilize mass scale data analysis and statistics to identify and resolve process issues at their root cause. 

 Supports Product Dispositioning:  Work with appropriate technical resources to ensure that suspect material is dispositioned appropriately.  Provides direction to the quality technicians as needed.

 Engage in Benchmarking:  Work with counterparts across the organization to benchmark and standardize best practices.  Work to define True North performance levels for KPIs at each unit.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5-7 years of Quality Engineering experience in a Manufacturing facility.

Bachelor’s degree in one of the Engineering Sciences

Ability to read and interpret standards and tolerances; Solid working knowledge of manufacturing systems and quality control systems; Solid Problem Solving skills; Proficient in metrology; Self-starter; adaptable to change; ability to prioritize needs; Professionalism and strong organizational skills
