Seeking a Project Engineer for a client located in Texas.

Description:

Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer Expectations:

The PE position is a fast-paced role in assisting with all aspects of project management and pre-construction services. It requires knowledge of the preconstruction process, contract interpretation, heavy planning abilities, coordination of trades, strong computer skills, the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and strong personal motivation and organizational skills. To do these things successfully the position demands teamworking skills and an attitude to work with both the office staff and all the subcontractors. It is imperative that you are very eager to learn, willing to take on demanding task, complete these task timely, are very organized, and you MUST be able to work in a team driven environment. The PE will have a role in all aspects of the project starting with pre-construction and working thru the warranty phase of the project.

Pre-Construction:

In pre-construction, the PE will need to assist with organizing subcontractor participation. The task involved with this includes procuring plans and organizing them online for review by subcontractor prior to bidding. The PE will assist with setting up the bid room prior to the bid and assist pre-construction with organization of bids. Lots of phone calls, emails, and takeoffs for different scopes will need to be performed by the PE.

Pre-Project:

The PE will assist both the Project Manager and Field Manager in setting up the job. These duties will include assisting the PM with subcontractor buyout, setting up the project budget and getting it entered with accounting, pulling permits, setting up temporary utilities and temporary toilets, and soliciting subcontractors for submittals.

Construction Phase:

During the construction phase the PE will be responsible for coordination of RFI’s and submittals and assisting with the pay applications and change orders. Most of the time the work will be performed in the office with supervision from the PM but there will be time spent in the field with the field manager for coordination of field related task under the supervision of the field manager.

Closeout:

Upon substantial completion of the project the PE is responsible for assisting in creating the punch list and collecting all the closeout documentation. Once collected, the PE will organize and prepare the closeout documents for final submission to the owner/architect. The PE will be responsible for taking warranty claims from the owner and ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Great Attitude and skills to develop long lasting professional relationships
  • Applicant will be self-motivated, responsible, and timely
  • Self-organizational and management skills
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Combination of pertinent education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Ability to adapt, control, and complete work in a fast-paced environment and handle situations by problem solving with a strong sense of urgency
