JOB PURPOSE: Provide metallurgical assistance to reach quality goals and solve complex quality problems. Supervise all Lab personnel. Provide technical expertise as a Quality Engineer.

GENERAL NATURE AND MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: This position is responsible daily supervision (Safety, Engagement, Training and Development of Technicians, scheduling and prioritization of technicians and projects) of all lab technicians including Chemical lab, Physical Metallurgical Lab, Metallurgical Line Analyst, Gage Lab, and Sand Lab. This position is also responsible for one or two manufacturing Metallurgical Quality roles supporting manufacturing lines. This includes deviations, scrap reduction projects, cost reduction projects, corrective actions, and continuous improvement for these manufacturing areas. This position is responsible for Gage Certification, Process Audits (stress relief ovens, core drying ovens, etc), and Incoming Material auditing. Must work with Purchasing as well as Suppliers on Quality of incoming materials.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The position requires a Metallurgical Engineering (or Material Science) degree from an accredited University. Previous casting or supervision experience is desired but not required. Experience in problem solving and design of experiments is also required. Excellent computer and leadership skills are an asset.
