This position is based out of Virginia.
What you’ll do
Responsibility for providing project level oversight for industrial refrigeration construction projects, including, but not limited to: Customer relations, project quality, progress, contract and job cost management, planning and forecasting.
Act as primary business manager for Industrial Refrigeration construction projects.
Primary responsibility for redemption of equipment, material and subcontractor estimates. Secondary responsibility for labor and other costs.
Purchasing responsibility for the majority of non-commodity items, as well as the release thereof.
Responsible for submittal, operations and maintenance and closeout process.
Negotiation and pricing of all change orders.
Development of the initial schedule for work on the project.
Responsible for submission of RFIs and review of responses to determine scope impact.
Interface with engineering and detailing department to providing required detailing information, resolve conflicts, and discuss ideas to increase project profitability
Planning and coordinating with Construction Manager on requirements of the projects as they relate to schedule, sequence, production and quality.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with the customer.
Interpretation of project specification and decision making for choices relating to equipment and materials.
Industrial refrigeration engineering/construction project management experience
Knowledge of industrial refrigeration piping systems and equipment associated with ammonia refrigeration systems for food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities
Understanding of food processing, bottling, baking, warehousing and other industries associated with production, storage, packaging and distribution of food products
10 years’ experience as a Project Manager for industrial mechanical related construction projects--i.e., in an industrial refrigeration, manufacturing, food processing, or power/energy setting
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction, or Construction Engineering
Possess a valid driver’s license and willing to travel 30% of time (15% overnight travel).
Knowledge and interest of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, accounting, cost forecasting, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of building materials, engineering standards and codes.
Client management skills; ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
Production management skills; ability to visualize, plan, and execute to achieve budgeted goals
Ability to deal diplomatically with internal and external customers at various levels within an organization—i.e., owners, GC’s, subcontractors, engineers, superintendents, draftsmen, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency interfacing with technology, including knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel for cost estimating and engineering functions.
Capable of maintaining a high energy level to handle a dynamic, fast-paced workload
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
