We are currently seeking a Director of Operations for a Metal Stamping facility located in Ontario, Canada.

Description:

Job Purpose:
The Director of Operations directs and coordinates activities of the organization in accordance with identified company goals to obtain optimum safety, efficiency, economy of operations, and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through direct managers /supervisors. He/she will head, manage, and streamline the manufacturing activities of our organization, and will help to bring in the latest techniques and technology in global manufacturing practices.
The Director of Operations is expected to achieve the organizations expected Project Profits, Time and Health & Safety targets. She/he is also intimately involved in the strategy development for key projects and continuous improvement. As a Senior Executive you will be closely involved and influential in the development and setting of Operations and Strategic Directions and Strategies.
The Director of Operations plans, conducts and oversees all new manufacturing assignments, equipment modifications, rebuilding, and/or repair assignments which are complex and difficult and require expert application of manufacturing engineering knowledge.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a team of Production, Facilities, Logistics, and Kaizen Groups.
- Set goals and objectives for the team and Process and all operational improvements. Ensure Areas of Responsibility meet goals and objectives by providing systems, resources, and training as needed.
- Knowledge & experience in application development, systems design and architecture, maintenance and support - Full Life Cycle of product
- Oversees the work schedules of assigned personnel to meet completion dates, technical specifications and budget limits.
- Proven track record in managing large project budgets.
- Ensure that appropriate resources are provided to enable Manufacturing Maintenance support and training support be provided for all projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provides project management and technical leadership to direct managers/supervisors.
- Actively participates in business and strategic planning for assigned division.
- Performs such individual assignments as directed; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of operations, including organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department and ensures adequate and continuous control is exercised over the activities affecting quality.
- Interface with all other departments to ensure a cooperative effort.
- Responsible for technical development, code, engineering design and architecture, and managing a team
- Oversees the planning, design, architecture, development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the company's flagship manufacturing technology
- Build and inspire a team of talented workers in only Best in Class Manufacturing methods.
- Participates in the contract negotiations and maintenance of ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors
- Implement mechanisms to measure quality and cost effectiveness of work processes
- Forecast, develop and administer budget
- Serves as a strong technical resource for general product development and project management.
- Plans and Executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Accountable for delivery of projects within schedules and timelines.
- Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
- Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
- Minimizes our exposure and risk on projects.
- Develop, improve, and maintain software development processes
- Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Plans and directs all aspects of the engineering activities within the organization
- Direct the daily activities of all staff assigned to all manufacturing tooling, mechanical and electrical engineering projects.
- Oversee the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety 
- Ensure all machinery and tools are available for performing essential jobs
- Develop, implement, and manage polices, MOS’s, standards, and procedures.
-  Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance.
- Proven track record for product delivery, ability to meet deadlines, develop project plans and is results oriented
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to integrate new technologies into machines to insure that the organization is meeting its high quality goals and objectives.
- Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines. 
- Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance. 
- Ability to identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship with project indicators.
- Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships. 
- Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
-  Drives Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education / Training Required
- University or College Graduate in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent  Program
-  Successful completion of recognized Tooling Program, Millwright, Tool & Die or Industrial Electrician (an asset)
-  Computer / financial / administration efficiency skills in all required areas
-  Ten years plus Engineering / Production / Maintenance Management  automotive parts experience

Special Training Required
- CIM – Canadian Institute of Management Certificate
- Quality systems/standards, POS, PLEX Systems, and 5S Awareness Training
- WHMIS, and TDG
- OHS Awareness Training relevant to job competencies
- Working knowledge of all employment regulations requirements
