Director of Extrusion  (#9652) - TN

An aluminum extrusion facility is looking for a director of extrusion.



Reports to : General Manager

The Director of Extrusion is responsible for managing all extrusion operations to meet or exceed all productivity and quality metrics. This position requires active participation in safety, quality, and continuous improvement efforts.


  • Responsible for production effectiveness and day-to-day press operations.
  • Analyzes downtime metrics to facilitate root cause assessment and problem solving
  • Ensures that a complete current state value stream map is developed
  • Prepares a future state map that uses lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve process value in the short to mid-term.
  • Creates a plan to achieve future state.
  • Leads implementation of the future state plan.
  • Leads, enables, and mobilizes associates to implement required changes.
  • Leads day-to-day activities within the value stream to ensure current commitments are achieved while longer term improvements are being made.
  • Leads culture of continuous improvement
  • Development of quality assurance criteria and procedures for assigned areas
  • Development of capital equipment justifications for assigned areas if required
  • Actively participates in the recruitment and hiring of new employees and running the maintenance apprenticeship program.
  • Coordinates and/or facilitates training of employees
  • Leads culture of continuous improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing the operations of aluminum extrusion equipment commissioned after 2000.
  • Must have a sense of urgency
  • Able to analytically assess processes and performance
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment
  • Great personality, able to engage people.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean techniques.
